Gua Zi Rou Fan (瓜仔肉飯/瓜仔肉饭) Steamed Pork With Pickles On Rice
Gua zi rou fan (瓜仔肉飯/瓜仔肉饭) (pinyin with tones: guā zǐ ròu fàn), steamed pork with pickles on rice, is something looks pretty similar to lu rou fan (滷肉飯, braised pork on rice) and rou zao fan (肉燥飯). They all contain pork and soy sauce, but the main differences are the cooking method and pickled melons. You can find gua zi rou fan in bento shops, noodles shops, and some diners. Most of the time, it becomes the staple dish for dinner because it is easier to cook than the others.

How to Make Gua Zi Rou Fan?
Gua zi rou (瓜仔肉), in Taiwanese called kue á bah, is a combination of pickled melons (or cucumbers) and minced pork. The marinade of pickled melons is the best seasoning for minced pork. To increase the flavor, you can add some garlic, gingers, scallions, rice wine, and soy sauce. Chop all the ingredients in small dices and mix them well in a big bowl, and then put the big bowl into the multifunction cooker (電鍋, dian guo). Add a bowl of water in the cooker; after 40 minutes, gua zi rou will be done. It goes so well with rice, so remember to prepare enough rice before enjoying it!
