Cong Zhua Bing (蔥抓餅/葱抓饼) Scallion Pancake
Cong Zhua Bing (蔥抓餅/葱抓饼) Scallion Pancake |
Cong zhua bing (蔥抓餅/葱抓饼) (pinyin with tones: cōng zhuā bǐng), or called zhua bing (抓餅), is a traditional pancake made from flour, scallions, and sometimes topped with some sesame. You can find cong zhua bing in most breakfast shops, at the food stands on the streets, or in the night market. When having cong zhua bing as breakfast, people usually add an egg, cheese, or some meat like bacon or ham. There are also ready-made frozen cong zhua bing in supermarkets so it is quite convenient to heat and eat it at home.
Difference Between Cong Zhua Bing (蔥抓餅) And Cong You Bing (蔥油餅)
Cong zhua bing (蔥抓餅) and cong you bing (蔥油餅) look alike, taste similarly, and share almost the same ingredients. The most difference is that cong zhua bing highlights the squeeze action to make it crisp; while cong you bing emphasizes lots of scallions inside the dough, so it is suitable for eating alone.
