Peh Tshai Loo (白菜滷/白菜卤) Stewed Chinese Cabbage
Peh Tshai Loo (白菜滷/白菜卤) Stewed Chinese Cabbage |
Peh tshai loo (白菜滷/白菜卤) (Taiwanese: pe̍h tshài lóo), stewed Chinese cabbage, is a classic Taiwanese dish that you can see from small diners to banquet restaurants. You may notice that it is pronounced in Taiwanese. It is also interesting that the translation in Chinese is reversed which is “滷白菜 (lu bai cai) (pinyin with tones: lǔ bái cài).”
The Ingredients In Peh Tshai Loo (白菜滷)
To make a delectable peh tshai loo, some ingredients are essential. They are shiitake mushrooms, dried shrimps, dried flatfish, fried shallots (油蔥酥), cloud ear fungus (木耳), deep fried egg crisp (蛋酥), fried tofu skin (豆皮), carrots, enokitake (金針菇), and so on. These are just the common ingredients in peh tshai loo. Each restaurant has its own recipe so the one you have maybe not includes all or perhaps has some other ingredients.
