Sha qi ma (沙琪瑪/沙琪玛) (pinyin with tones: shā qí mǎ), soft flour cake, is a traditional pastry made of simple ingredients. It contains merely flour, eggs, milk, and sugar. Sha qi ma looks like a cuboid made up of shredded dough which is stuck by syrup. The classic flavor of sha qi ma is maltose with some raisins and white sesame. The other popular flavor is plain brown sugar. You can find sha qi ma in bakeries, pastry shops, traditional markets, or even supermarkets.
