Si Shen Tang (四神湯/四神汤) Four Herbs Soup
Si Shen Tang (四神湯/四神汤) Four Herbs Soup
Si shen tang (四神湯/四神汤) (pinyin with tones: sì shén tāng) is a traditional soup mainly made of four herbs, which are lotus seeds, yam, gorgon fruits (芡實), and poria (茯苓); most of the time there are also Job’s tears (薏仁) and angelicas (當歸) in si shen tang. Besides these herbs, pork chitterlings and/or pork ribs will be stewed together. You can find si shen tang in diners, restaurants, or food stands on the streets. Si shen tang is good for our spleen and stomach and even children are suitable for it.
