Zhi Ma Qiu (芝麻球) Sesame Ball
Zhi Ma Qiu (芝麻球) Sesame Ball |
Zhi ma qiu (芝麻球) (pinyin with tones: zhī má qiú), sesame ball, is a traditional dessert which is made of glutinous rice flour with full of white sesames outside. The filling can be red bean paste, taro paste, black sesame paste, peanut paste, or hollow. Zhi ma qiu has different names in different countries in Asia. No doubt it is a popular sweet for afternoon snack or dessert. You can find zhi ma qiu in the food stands on the street or in banquet restaurants. The stands selling zhi ma qiu may also sell shuang bao tai (雙胞胎, horse hooves donut) and suan cai bao (酸菜包, fried Chinese sauerkraut bun).
